This Search and Rescue kit has 10 word problems involving length conversions. This kit includes:
-A set of the cards in black and white
-A set of the cards with a green polka dot background
-Directions for printing
-Student recording sheets
-All 10 questions as a 2-page worksheet
-Further instruction on how to play
This set of Search and Rescue cards is developed to encompass questions for the Common Core Standard 5.MD.A.1.
How to Play:
The cards are ready to print. Print the cards front/back. Once they are printed, fold your page so that a number is displayed on the outside, and a word problem is on the inside.
Disperse the cards around the classroom so that students can easily “Search” for their answers.
Assign students to begin at different cards/locations. Students should carry their math journal with them to record the steps they take to solve each question.
Students will begin by opening their first card, reading, and solving it. They will then look throughout the room to find the answer to their card. They will walk to the card with their answer and continue this process until they have solved all Search and Rescue cards.
If a student, or pair of students, becomes stuck at any time, they should meet you at the “Rescue” table for assistance.
