Teacher directions: Use this fun activity each season with students to learn and review figurative language!
Before beginning the lesson, review the following with your students: simile, metaphor, onomatopoeia, personification, hyperbole, synonym, antonym, & alliteration.
Give each student a copy of the “seasonal object figurative language” sheet. This is where they will record examples of their figurative language with the current season. This would also be a great tool to use to check student understanding before they do their final copy/picture.
Students will choose an object to represent the current season and all of their figurative language examples will be about that particular object.
Once students have been “checked” off, they may attach the “seasonal object figurative language” sheet to their picture, color inside their object (if they have room) they have drawn, or find a picture in a magazine.
This would be a wonderful bulletin board display!
I have included 4 examples for you.
