A month of morning messages to teach students proper punctuation, capitalization, and simple spelling as well as science concepts related to seasons and the weather. This power point features a snowman who writes letters to your students asking questions about the weather and seasons. Students have an opportunity to correct punctuation, capitalization, and spelling errors on the smart board as well as writing simple responses in their journal if you use one in your classroom.
I will usually have the letter pulled up and waiting for my students after a transition like recess. I also have a small stuffed snowman (Olaf works well) that I will hide around my room and move from time to time. My students look forward receiving the "surprise" letters on the smart board and get excited about finding her in the classroom. It keeps the long winter months exciting.
