Description

This bundle includes four sets of seasonal task cards for middle grade kids - one set each for autumn or fall, winter holidays, spring, and summer review. Each set includes thirty half-page cards, plenty for a fun practice or review at the change of season.

Autumn Reading Comprehension Task Cards includes original, non-fiction reading passages on topics related to autumn, fall holidays, or fall activities. There are six cards each on the following reading skills - main ideas and supporting details, using context clues, cause and effect, sequence of events, and fact or opinion. Each card includes several short questions or another type or reading response such as writing a short paragraph, drawing, or completing a graphic organizer.

Spring Reading Comprehension Task Cards includes passages on topics related to spring, Easter, and various springtime activities. There are six cards each on the following reading skills - main ideas and supporting details, using context clues, cause and effect, sequence of events, and fact or opinion. Each card includes several short questions or another type or reading response such as writing a short paragraph, drawing, or completing a graphic organizer.

Winter Holidays Task Cards include original fictional and informational passages with comprehension questions on half-page task cards. The thirty cards feature a variety of reading skills including: making inferences, identifying settings, identifying cause and effect, making predictions, using context clues, and characterization. The topics of the passages include Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, New Years, Chinese New Year, and winter.

Summer Practice Task Cards includes five cards on each of six summer topics:

1. At the Beach

2. Life on the Pond

3. Low-Tech Fun

4. The Ball Game

5. Picnic Time

6. Vacation

Each group of five cards includes the following: Reading Skills, Writing Practice ,Vocabulary, Fun Puzzles, and a Follow-up Activity. Also included is a black and white outline cover page that students can color and a checklist for students to keep track of the cards they have completed. This set would work great as either a take-home summer review or an in-class activity.

These task card sets support a number of the reading standards such as making inferences from text, describing story elements, summarizing, and determining the meanings of words in the text.

With a variety of cards in each set, these task cards are great for differentiation, and just to have on hand for centers, stations, individualized assignments, partner or group work, and whole class games such as Scoot or Footloose.

The Easel versions are ready to use with directions, answer boxes, and moveable pieces.
