Included in this zip folder are 8 SMART Notebook files. 2 are instruction files and 6 are Assignment files. A brief description of each:

SMART Notebook Instruction file #1 is an 11 slide presentation. The 4 key concepts of secant/cosecant graphs are introduced. These concepts are:
1. Local Maximums
2. Local Minimums
3. Asymptotes with a local min on its left and a local max on its right
4. Asymptotes with a local max on its left and a local min on its right

SMART Notebook Instruction file #2 is a 28 page presentation. It relates y=secx to the following:

1. y=-2+secx
2. y=2secx
3. y=sec2x
4. y=sec(x-50)
Computer models of y=secx and the above transformations are used to illustrate the transformations.



SMART Notebook Assignment file #1A is for formative Assessment. Graphs are provided and the student must respond to the transformations. It is coded for SMART Response. There are 12 questions.

SMART Notebook Assignment #1 is 24 questions. The student is given 4 graphs and has to identify the following for each graph:
1. The vertical shift
2. The vertical stretch
3. The period
4. The horizontal stretch factor
5. The phase angle if a transformation of y=secx
6. The phase angle if a transformation of y=cscx
It is on 1 page for easy printing and coded for SMART Response.


SMART Notebook Assignments #2 and #3 are in the same file.
Assignment #2 is 10 Sec graphs. The student must use transformations to write an equation of each. It is on 1 page for easy printing.

Assignment #3 is 10 Csc graphs. The student must use transformations to write an equation of each. It is on 1 page for easy printing.

SMART Notebook Assignment #4 is 24 questions. The student is given 4 graph sand has to identify the following for each graph:
1. The vertical shift
2. The vertical stretch
3. The period
4. The horizontal stretch factor
