I love Eureka Math/Engage NY, but when we launched it in my classroom, I was overwhelmed with everything I needed to manage at once. A typical lesson might include rapid fire examples of two-digit numbers on the Rekenrek, one-digit numbers on a ten frame, and a combination of numbers drawn in "quick tens and ones." And that was just the fluency warm up!
I created PowerPoints for each of the lessons so that I could spend my classroom time efficiently. The PowerPoints meant the suggested sequence of examples were available to me at the click of a button, along with animations to break the concept down for my students. This way, I could spend classroom time watching my students puzzle and reason, listen to math talk, and focus on the numeracy development rather than struggling with manipulatives or unwieldy lesson plan binders.
I'm making these available on Teachers Pay Teachers because I'm hoping they can help somebody else, too! I found that once these were created, I freed my time up so I actually had the energy to pour over the classwork or exit tickets and go thoughtfully into my next lesson. My students were much more successful and I was so much calmer.
These PowerPoints are designed to be used in tangent with the freely available Engage NY math curriculum. The curriculum can be accessed here https://www.engageny.org/resource/grade-2-mathematics-module-1-topic and you will need to access it to print out classwork, exit tickets, and optional homework. Enjoy!
