We can teach others how to do something! This is our sixth unit from a series of writing workshop curriculum. In this unit, students will learn to write their own informative books on something they are experts in. They will learn to use procedural features such as sequencing words, transition words, directions, steps, materials, tips/advice, details, and closure to elaborate their writing. The unit is inspired by Lucy Calkin's How-To-Books writing.
This curriculum is aligned to the National Common Core Standards and Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills. Choose from 21 anchor charts that are student friendly. The charts are differentiated for English-language learners, at-risk students and students with special needs. Show charts on your SmartBoard, make class set copies to put in student's writing folder, or draw an identical one on a big chart paper.
