My Reader’s Response Folders have completely changed my reading instruction… for the better! -- They have deepened my students’ reading comprehension skills & writing skills! …AND …the best part… my students love them!
I use these reader’s response activities at least once a week with whatever text we are reading…Basal reading stories, authentic literature, book sets, author studies, AR individual books, etc.
I created these activities to align with the Common Core RL 2.1-2.9 Standards AND to provide opportunities for children to learn and work together.
I’ve found that after I teach a mini lesson showing students how to complete the assignment, it’s best to let the children work with a partner. Then the next day, my students feel confident to practice the skill independently. I Do, We Do, You Do.
This packet is arranged in the order of RL 2.1-2.9 Standards. You will find a partner page for each standard and a matching individual page. Almost all of the standards have more than one learning activity.
Super Easy To Get Started
1. Gather a class set of 2 pocket folders with prongs.
2. Decide if you want to print the Reader’s Response covers in full color or black & white and then let students color them.
3. Glue covers to front of folders. Write student name on each pencil.
4. I copy the whole activity packet of worksheets. Then 3 hole punch papers, insert onto the prongs in folders, and you are set to go!!
