Take formative and summative assessments of your students' sight word knowledge easily and efficiently with these pre-made assessment forms. This assessment uses the Dolch list for high-frequency sight words, Second Grade level, and includes space next to each word to record miscues.
Included at the bottom of each assessment is a learning progression scale. You can use the LPS to help inform parents of their child’s current achievement, or keep the assessments in student portfolios for your own use.
Each LPS table reads as follows:
1 = Below Standard
The student reads fewer than 24 words on the list accurately and/or independently.
2 = Progressing Toward Standard
The student accurately and independently reads 24-39 words on the list.
3 = Meeting Standard
The student accurately and independently reads all of the sight words on the list.
4 = Exceeding Standard
The student accurately and independently reads all of the sight words on the list, in addition to words on the next list.
* The numbers for each assessment change slightly to reflect how many words are on each list. “Progressing” generally begins at 60% mastery.
I'd be happy to include a common core or state standard above the LPS, or change the LPS, if you'd like. These are perfect for informing parents of their child's progress, keeping in anecdotal record files, using for Child Study/IEP meetings, progress monitoring or report cards, etc.
