Your students will enjoy playing this game while reviewing how to spell Thanksgiving words and learn facts about the first Thanksgiving. There are two games in this packet.
Students play this game in pairs, with the person with the longest first or last name going first. After you have run off the cards you may choose to mix up the cards using words and facts together or use the word cards first and the information cards second. As students read the words they fill in the blocks. The first person to the top wins. Students keep going through the cards until someone has reached the top.
You will need to make enough copies so that each student has one sheet of paper to work off of. Running off 4 sets of the word and information cards is recommended. You can laminate and reuse if you would like.
This activity would be a great center activity, morning start paper, or small group. You extend this activity by: having students draw pictures, write sentences using each word, write a short story, or have students practice giving their partner a spelling test.
