In this fun holiday activity, students design stockings and choose gifts for characters, authors, historical figures, scientists, artists, or others being studied in secondary classes. This gets students thinking, reading, and researching about their gift recipients. Then they write paragraphs, which provide rationales for their gift choices.
There are several handouts to choose from in order to best meet student needs.
This 15 page resource includes handouts with two different stocking templates, graphic organizer with no picture (for older students), handout with snowman picture (to make activity non-denominational), character analysis graphic organizer, gift-giving questionnaire, sample handout, and paragraph prompt. Furthermore, there is a handout with suggestions for use and a new paragraph graphic organizer to differentiate for students who may need additional support for writing.
