Thank you for perusing this product! (Check out the sample!)
This package contains Secret Sight Word decoding pages for 102 sight words (think Kindergarten and First Grade)! The words are derived from Fry’s List, as well as the Reading Academy Source book. Basically, all the words are the MOST COMMON ones your students will encounter while reading. WOW!
1. Print on white cardstock/construction paper.
2. Laminate for durability (or use plastic sheet protectors).
3. Gather dry erase markers and let the fun begin!
4. OPTIONAL: Get some magnifying glasses to really add to the decoding fun!
There is a Secret Sight Word Code Breaker Chart included, as well. (This is for students who are experiencing difficulty in associating the picture to it’s beginning sound.)
I use this activity by incorporating it during center time. Students analyze the pictures in each box (utilizing the Code Breaker Chart, if needed), then use a dry-erase marker to write the decoded sight word on the provided line. Each picture in every word corresponds to a letter (which just happens to be its beginning sound). They must read the entire decoded sheet (six words) to themselves/their center partners BEFORE moving on to the next sheet of words to decode.
This pack would also work well for homework, morning work, ELA block activities, and MUCH MORE! How many ways can you find to incorporate Secret Sight Words? ☺
