This is a handout with a short reading passage on sectionalism and a map activity. The reading explains what sectionalism was, and how the United States was becoming separated with their different ideas and beliefs. There is also a vocabulary box to guide students as they read. On the back of the handout there is a blank map. Students use the reading to them draw in the blank map with images of sectionalism for each part of the country. This is a fun hands on activity that can be used in class. I had my students use colored pencils and markers, and I had great results! This is a handout with a more creative outlet that all students will enjoy.
