Need an innovative warm-up activity? See-Think-Wonder is a group activity for students to examine artwork to better understand meaning and metaphor. In this activity, students will examine a piece of artwork by Frida Kahlo. Students will analyze objects by dissecting the metaphors the artist may be conveying. Afterwards, students will ask higher level questions to further the conversation about the artwork. Personally, I use this assignment as a warm-up to get my students talking and thinking deeper about artwork. The assignment typically takes about 10-15 minutes.
