This product contains two smartboard presentations and a student activity sheet aligned to Next Generation Science Standard 2-LS2-2. In one activity, students used a variety of materials (q-tips, popcorn for seeds, balloons, cotton balls, cupcake papers, trays of water, pipe cleaners, straws, etc). to create a model of seed dispersal. I had the materials setting out and was pleasantly surprised with what the students created. Groups of 3-4 students worked together to create the models. After 30 minutes of work, we spent 15 going around to each group and allowing them to explain and demonstrate their models. Prior to creating the models, I used picture books found in the library as well as a youtube video (link is provided) and student background knowledge to add to their knowledge of seed dispersal. For the second activity, I brought in examples of seeds and students had to decide how seed was most likely dispersed and give evidence for their reasoning.
