I created this Seed Observation Log to accompany our science unit on plants. I give each student a lima bean (could be any bean). The students place a wet paper towel and their bean inside a baggy. I then tape the baggy to our window. Each day, the students take down their baggy and examine their seed. They sketch a picture of their seed and describe what has happened to the seed in this observation log. We discuss the parts of a plant as the seed sprouts and grow. At the end, students summarize what they've learned about plants. I've included a cover sheet for the journal along with the observation log that can be printed for how many days you want your students to observer their bean. I will make a cute little book with my class out of this.
