After reading the novel Seedfolks, celebrate with a 'neighborhood social' in your classroom. Every student must complete a 'ticket' into this event to help him/her experience the social aspect of Seedfolks. This classroom activity is to give a glimpse into understanding how it takes effort to expand our social surroundings and the benefits in doing so.
Celebrate the themes of Seedfolks--diversity and acceptance. You'll have all the information needed for an activity that will be remembered by your students throughout the year. Fun, food, and socializing. What else could your students want?
You may want to take some time the following day to share the notes written by the 'characters' if time does not allow during the luncheon.
Setup and organization will be important because 55 minutes might go by quickly.
