Students are asked to read, annotate, and cite from three sources: Paul Fleischman's novel Seedfolks and two articles (one by Fleischman explaining how this book came about and another about the benefits of gardening). This final exam is an argumentative performance task with 3 questions (answer key with real students answers provided) and 3 extra credit questions. Students are asked to write in paragraph form to support their positions citing from all 3 sources. I used this in my classroom and it worked wonderfully! It was such a joy to see the students--like college students--flipping through the sources citing and proving their points! Enjoy!
