This is a lab using the variquest probe wear and tuning forks. Students can see the graphs of sound waves and also see constructive and destructive interference. Students are asked to find frequency and to draw the graph.
For this activity you need the Variquest devices, Microphone Probe, and various tuning forks.
I set mine up into stations where the devices and tuning forks stayed with the station and the students rotated around my room.
This lab was created using the Vernier template and introduction from vernier lab.
*For this lab students need to know that the speed of sound is 340 m/s. They can calculate frequency by counting the crests and dividing by the time on the graph. Then using this information they can calculate the wavelength.
