Pages 3-5: Amazing Word Cards
Pages 6-10: Spelling Word and Challenge Word Cards
Pages 11-13: Word Wise (I print the word cards out and laminate them). Students list two words with each prefix: un-, re-, mis-, and dis-. Circle the prefixes and write a sentence using each word. I cut out the prefix non- because non of the previous spelling words contained it.
Pages 14-16: Word Work: (I print the word cards out and laminate them). Students look at the chart. Read each word card and write it in the correct column. See if you can come up with your own words for the prefix non-.
Pages 17-18: Let’s Write! (I hang up the plays poster to help students remember what a play is). Students write a play about two characters solving a problem. Name the characters, tell the setting, and include dialogue.
Pages 19: Words To Know: Students find four unknown words in magazines or books. List them and look up their meanings. Write sentences using each word.
Page 20: Read For Meaning: Students read a Leveled Reader. Pay attention to literary elements. Write sentences about the characters, setting, and plot.
Page 21: I included a portion of Seeing Stars for students to read for fluency.
