Kindergarten RTI Intervention and Phonemic Awareness Support through Segmenting CVC Words. These student work mats are placed in clear plastic sleeves and students write on them using dry erase markers to create durable work mats. (Another option is to print on card stock and laminate).
With this comprehensive bundle, RTI students work one on one with me or with an instructional aide (as a pull out) to segment the sounds they hear in CVC words and write them on the work mats. After, students change out the first, middle, or last sound (depending on which mat they're working on) to create a brand new word. This helps students learn sound isolation and to rhyme, blend, segment, practice phonics, printing, and work one on one with a teacher to build their self confidence as emergent readers.
In order of difficulty
Set One: Pages 1- 16 : First Sounds focus (For example: dig, big, pig, wig)
Set Two: Pages 17 - 23 : Middle Sounds focus (For example: big, bag, bug)
Set Three: Pages 24 - 30 : Final Sounds focus ( For example: dot, dog, doll)
(Plus, three cover pages to introduce each set)
Some kids just need one on one tutoring to pull ahead or it won't happen as quickly. This set of sorting mats seem to really hit the spot!
