Segmentation and Blending Flashcards (Level 1): Teach students to "sound it out" using these phonics-based CVC decoding cards. Each card provides visual aids to help students learn the sounds and distinguish between the phonemes as they practice segmenting and blending CVC words.

Step 1: Students learn the sounds for each letter using pre-assigned graphics.
Example: m / a / t (mouse / apple / turtle)
Step 2: Students tap out the sounds using letter/ sound correspondence.

Step 3: Students blend individual phonemes into words.
Example: r / e / d = RED
Step 4: Students learn to identify the sounds by position.

PHONICS / STANDARDS
Blend and segment onsets and rimes of single-syllable spoken words.
Isolate and pronounce the initial, medial vowel, and final sounds (phonemes) in three-phoneme (consonant-vowel-consonant, or CVC) words.
Demonstrate basic knowledge of one-to-one letter-sound correspondences by producing the primary sound or many of the most frequent sounds for each consonant.
