As children begin to learn how to read and write, an important skill they need to know is how to segment words. This activity (either center, independent, or group) will help children learn how to segment. Each child first, says the name of the picture, then uses counters to slide into the boxes as they segment the word.
**(Words sounds range from 2 sounds to 4 sounds)**
A variation to this activity can also be using magnetic letters to spell and say each sound as they slide the letters into the boxes. **Note, some words contain digraphs or vowel pairs and will not be able to be spelled out (most can be spelled with letters)**
Cards include both color and black and white printing options.
