Teaching reading is, in my opinion, one of the most challenging and rewarding aspects of being a teacher. It's a BIG job and requires the mastery of a variety of foundational skills to be done effectively. One of those skills, segmenting sounds, is especially important in teaching students to decode words as well as to spell them!
In an effort to provide my students with loads of fun and engaging practice activities to help them mastering segmenting sounds, I created this packet of goodies. Inside you will numerous games and print and go practice pages that are suitable for teaching beginning, middle, and ending sounds in isolation. This way, you can focus on one sound at a time and move through them as students reach mastery. Once they've gotten those down, you can use the last section of the packet which focuses on practicing all three! All of the activities in the packet are aligned to first grade Common Core State Standards.

Thanks and happy teaching!
