This SMARTBoard activity is simple and easy to use. The teacher speaks a word aloud that has a short vowel sound (a closed syllable word) and either 3, 4, or 5 sounds (phonemes).
Students have to repeat the word, tap out (segment) EACH of the sounds (phonemes) they hear in the word, and use their knowledge of phonemes (sounds) to graphemes (letters) to select the correct letters to represent each sound. There are handwriting lines at the bottom of each picture to model how to correctly form the correct letters as well. : )
