These cards correspond to the movie Selena. This movie is based upon the life of the Latin music star Selena Quintanilla Perez and is a high interest way to introduce students to a bit of the modern history of Latin music in the US. The movie cards help to guide the students through the process of understanding the movie. After watching the movie each day, I ask the students to work in pairs to put the story in order. Students then must retell the story as it happened. The cards are written in the present tense as my students are mostly a the intermediate proficiency level and are working on this narration skill. The cards also help students to catch up if they missed a day of the movie. The activity generally takes 10 minutes of class time per day.
