Use readings to accompany the movie "Selena", about Selena Quintanilla! This reinforces family member and high frequency Spanish 1 vocabulary.
There are 3 present-tense readings designed for a Spanish 1 Comprehensible Input/ TPRS class. Page 1 has information about her family and early life. Page 2 is a reading with information about Tejano music, and about Selena as she becomes famous. Page 3 lists information about other events in her life. Page 3 ends with saying how Selena goes to talk with Yolanda Saldivar one day (the day that she is killed). However, it does not reveal the ending of the movie, so I suggest using the last reading as a supplement before watching the ending! Or, another idea, have students write in the rest about what happens after seeing the ending!
