This is a great activity for special education teachers to implement with middle school to high school students with IEPs. In this lesson, students will learn about their IEP eligibility and the accommodations that helps them be successful in school.
Students will then write a letter to their teacher that explains their disability and the supports that will help them in class. Not only will this augment their expository writing skills, this is also a great transition planning tool. This lesson can be adaptable so that students practice writing an accommodations request letter to their college professors and employers.
