A simple self-assessment check-in tool to use post-instruction to introduce students to monitoring their own understanding of newly presented skills and concepts. There are lots of ways in which this tool can be used -- my favorite way is on a binder ring, which I bring around to each student at the end of whole or small group instruction, allowing them to indicate their comfort and understanding in a more private manner.
Directions: Print in color and display as a visual OR print, laminate, cut and place on binder ring. Students may point to, verbalize, or otherwise indicate their level of understanding of the previously taught concept or skill. There’s no wrong way to use these!
