Assess, assess, assess! Sometimes it feels like that’s all we do. We are constantly grading, observing, and questioning to figure out what students know…or don’t know… to collect more data. Going into my 3rd year of teaching 3rd grade, I have finally figured out one very helpful tip: YOU DON’T HAVE TO DO IT ALL BY YOURSELF! In my first year of teaching, I had trouble letting go of the reins and letting students help me do my job. I think most teachers can relate to this (not that we are control freaks or anything… :-P), but it’s time to let go. Not only will you save yourself some time and work, but your students will benefit greatly from the responsibility and self reflection.
This brings me to this new resource that I have created for my classroom to help my students help me. I was browsing Pinterest (naturally) one day and came across two pins that inspired me.
