The “Self-Esteem Curriculum for Young, Black Girls” was created to teach children to

embrace themselves and feel empowered. As a community, students examine how they feel about themselves by taking an assessment. Students also examine society’s beauty standards by discussing the effects of the media’s portrayal of beauty by listening to a song entitled "My Black Is Beautiful" written by Lovely Hoffman. Students walk away with an appreciation of the diversity of beauty in our community.

This curriculum is adaptable for all young people and can be used in a classroom setting, church setting, homeschool setting and after school program setting.
