Many kids struggle with unhealthy self-esteem and low self-confidence. They find themselves doubting their abilities and their self-worth. They compare themselves to others and mistakenly believe that they don't measure up. They start believing that they are the odd one out and don't belong.
It can be a daunting task figuring out how to remind these children of the greatness they possess inside. The stakes are high because if left untreated, their negative self-perception can turn into a hardwired belief that hinders them from finding satisfaction in life.
This self-esteem workbook for tweens and teens is a great place to start. When students complete this workbook they gain insight into their negative beliefs by exploring the numerous factors (i.e. negative self-talk, parents/caregivers, peer group, social media
) that influence how they feel about themselves.
Children are given tools to question their negative beliefs instead of accepting them as truth. Examining the validity of their negative self-talk allows them to create a space for hope and change. They learn how to stop the constant negative chatter of their inner voice by using positive self-statements.
Additionally, children learn how to communicate more assertively through the use of I-messages. Changing their communication style helps them see that they aren't powerless. They learn how to speak up and get their needs met instead of giving in to the silence of despair.
