Learning Objective

In this group, students learn how to identify the size of their problems, appropriate reactions, and how to solve them. Students will also identify their support system, triggers, and the connection between their emotions and the physical body.

Product Description

This elementary school counseling self-regulation group teaches students self-regulation coping strategies through engaging and fun activities! This self-regulation group helps students understand the size of their problem and the tools needed to manage their emotions. This resource would be a great complement to lessons about the Zones of Regulation by Leah Kuypers. Ready to Regulate is a complete 8 week self-regulation group which includes outlines with weekly objectives and ASCA Mindsets and Behaviors.

Students will learn which feelings and actions are associated with each color and self-regulation strategies to help regulate their emotions. They will learn how to identify the size of their problems, appropriate reactions, and how to solve them. Students will also identify their support system, triggers, and the connection between their emotions and the physical body.

BENEFITING STUDENTS

Each week students will learn self-regulation skills they can use at home and school to help them manage their emotions. The goal of this self-regulation group is for students to identify how they are feeling and use coping strategies to feel better! In addition, they will improve communication skills and learn how to practice calm down strategies.

At a minimum, being in the counseling group allows students to identify and share their feelings, develop self-esteem through participation, and practice empathy while hearing others’ experiences.

SAVING TIME

With easy to implement outlines and activities, this group curriculum is very low-prep. Simply print out each session before students arrive and keep them in a file folder. For tips on how to organize your small groups, check out this blog post I wrote.

The included self-assessments are a great way to get students to self-reflect on their progress and you can then share this information with teachers, parents, or in your program report.

Also, make sure to track your data and compile it in an end of the year report. Here is an outline I created to make it easy!
