I have students that need and have a person. It is someone in the school, such as a teaching assistant or another teacher, outside of our classroom that they check in with periodically throughout the day. This reflection allows them to highlight the successes along with a reflection of their moments of great frustration.
I keep these letters in a binder so the students can write one every hour if they really feel a need. This letter is implemented in conjunction with whole class emotions identification and discussions, brain breaks and self-regulation strategies.
