This is my favorite bulletin board ever. I saw the idea on Facebook and recreated all the graphics. I found a few pictures of famous math and science people photshopped taking selfies to add to the board. I also made a Pi-rate symbol that was quite large and asked my colleagues to take a selfie with it. It is now in my classroom, where my students are encouraged to take a selfie with it. My students all have iPads so this is not encouraging phone use in the class or using any of their data.
Why do this? The steps within the SELFIE letters are awesome for problem solving. By having the pictures up there, students are looking and reading and being reminded of the steps, whether they realize it or not. I will rotate out pictures throughout the year, so they'll look often to see if they have made the board yet or if their friends are up there.
