A Visual Choice and Activity for Oral Motor Seekers
Sensory Food Breaks provide children with oral input to regulate
the need for chewing, biting or spitting. I start off every 5-10 minutes
with a sensory "food" break. Once students respond, I increase
the interval of time, with a goal anywhere from 30 minutes-1 hour.
The goal is for the student to seek something out before a behavior
occurs including biting another student. Some of my students will
bite tables, anything with wood or suck/bite fingers.
I find the break works and I hope you find it beneficial, too!
This page will be the back cover and the choice board (below) will
provide a choice board to students who are non-vocal or need
a visual cue (can make it interactive by printing too copies and a
interactive choice board, for students on PECS).
Please note: This book is a flip book, organized by tabs.
