I originally made this choice board for my child with SPD with the intention of helping him learn to recognize his need for sensory input. Starting as a toddler, this board helped him gain confidence in meeting his own sensory needs. I added a few more pictures so that it was applicable to the school environment as well. This board can be used with any child with sensory difficulties from toddler through school-age, verbal or nonverbal. There are very few words which was intentional. The overloaded or underloaded sensory system must be balanced before the frontal lobe can begin working optimally. This board has relaxing colors and simple images and you can give the child a few choices that are appropriate to their situation. I left 9 cards blank that can be customized to fit the child's individual needs. It can be used at home, school, or daycare.
Directions: Laminate and use velcro dots or magnets for durability and ease of use.
