In this packet you will find a fun set of six sensory writing postcard prompts, themed around the college neighborhood of Georgetown, D.C. Students will have a chance to learn a bit about another place while strengthening their ability to use sensory details.
You can either choose several of the images you think your students will enjoy and photocopy those postcard pages, or photocopy them all and spread them out, letting students choose pictures they find appealing.
When they finish, let students cut out and fold their postcards, so that the picture is on the front and their text is on the back. Then let them trade and read for a while.
This activity also makes for a great display. Decorate a bulletin board with the photos and descriptive messages. Print the small posters at the end of this packet to put in the top corners of the board.
