Product Description
Are you looking for a FUN and MEMORABLE way for your students to get better at sentence fluency? You have come to the right place! Using a clever mnemonic device, I teach my kids how to be mindful of sentence fluency when writing or editing and revising. The bonus part is, they will (hopefully) remember the BLT strategy during benchmark or standardized tests without you having to remind them.

I designed this PowerPoint to relate to students ages 8-13.

Take your students through this PowerPoint over the course of 2-5 days (depending on the length of your writing period and the academic level of your students). Supplement it with checks for understanding and extra guided practice. Included is a self-evaluating rubric on the last few pages so that you can display it during the entire school year when editing, revising, or drafting!

General Info: This PowerPoint is 29 slides long and is designed to increase student awareness in the area of Sentence Fluency. It covers the following standards:

CCSS.ELA-Literacy.L.5.3a Expand, combine, and reduce sentences for meaning, reader/listener interest, and style.
CCSS.ELA-Literacy.L.5.2 Demonstrate command of the conventions of standard English capitalization, punctuation, and spelling when writing
CCSS.ELA-Literacy.W.5.4 Produce clear and coherent writing in which the development and organization are appropriate to task, purpose, and audience.
