This product contains Resource 1 and Resource 2 from the bundled unit Sentence Fragment BOOT CAMP.
Resource 1: Seven Types of Fragments (Handouts)
These five handouts explain the grammar behind the seven types of sentence fragments (gerund phrase, participial phrase, infinitive phrase, appositive phrase, prepositional phrase, dependent clause, and incomplete verb). Use these materials in any of the following ways:
*Use the handouts for lecture-based whole-group instruction.
*Have students create a flap-book foldable using the handouts. Each flap could be a fragment type with room for the student’s notes.
*Assign the fragment types to pairs or small groups and have teams present those fragment types to the class.
Resource 2: Sentence Fragment Sort
In this exercise, students sort 32 complete sentences and sentence fragments into eight categories. Use the activity as a whole class review, early finisher fragment identification practice, formative assessment, or differentiated learning station. Station instructions are included for independent work in a center.
