A fun way for students to practice and review the four types of sentences. The sentence jar can be used in a variety of ways. Students can play:
BINGO- choose a gray sentence strip from the jar. BINGO letters and sentences with added punctuation are on the strip. The first student to get five in a row wins the game.
Sentence Sort- choose a yellow sentence strip from the jar. Punctuation is not included on these strips. Students sort the sentences into the correct column (column cards included).
Sentence Search- choose a yellow sentence strip from the jar and complete the sentence search worksheet.
Partner Up- Students work with a partner to test each other on the sentence strips (gray or yellow strips can be used). One student reads the strip and the other guess the type of sentence.
Anchor Charts are included to introduce the lesson. Also included are three editable slides (BINGO board, gray sentence strips, yellow sentence strips) for you to make your own sentences. I have included anchor charts written with the words Declarative, Interrogative, Imperative, Exclamatory; as well as Statement, Question, Command, and Exclamation.
