With this literacy center activity, students will get practice with phonics skills and the first 100 Fry sight words. Each of the 4 gameboards includes 12 pictures to use with 48 sentence cards that are provided for students to match.
Copy all gameboards and sentence cards on cardstock then laminate. Cut all sentence cards apart. If you want to make this game for two separate groups, you can copy the sentences for games 1 and 2 on different colored cardstock than games 3 and 4. This will be especially helpful at “clean up” time so sentence cards are matched quickly to the correct storage containers.
Working in a small group, students will match all sentence cards to the correct pictures on the gameboards or they can take turns choosing a sentence card from the pile, and after reading the sentence, they put the sentence card on the corresponding picture if they have a match. The first one to cover all spaces on their gameboard wins the game.
