These simple sentence strips are perfect for focusing on fluency, one-to-one correspondence and sight word recognition for beginning readers.
There are three colours included in the pack that show three different reading levels:
Orange - Beginning Reading (PM Levels 1-3)
White - Beginning Reading (PM Levels 4-8)
Blue - Emergent Readers (PM Levels 9-15)
How to use them:
- I have used these sentence strips within reading groups (literacy group activities) and for guided reading sessions in Kindergarten. Would also be great for pre-school students and Year 1 students in the early terms of school.
- Students can point to the words as they read as there is enough finger space below the words. Pictures beside the sentence aid students to solve tricky words.
- All sentences include one or more of the high frequency sight words stated in the Magic 100 Word lists. These can be used to find magic 100 Words from the students current list.
- Or cut the pictures away from the sentences and allow students to match the sentences with the pictures.

--> 13 White Level Sentence Strips (PM Levels 4-8)
--> 5 Blue Level Sentence Strips (PM Levels 9-15)
I recommend cutting each strip, then laminating. Another great idea is to laminate each sentence strip, then hole punch each and bundle together with a key ring as an easy literacy resource.
