This is a set of 120 sentences. All are short vowel, closed syllables. There are two levels. Level one includes CVC, consonant digraphs and the -all word family. Level two includes welded sounds and consonant blends. Sentences include beginning sight words but are mostly decodable and useful with Orton-Gillingham type programs. Each sentence is on a strip (five per page) for easy printing and cutting. The font is easy to read and the text is large.
These sentence strips are very versatile. Some of my favorite ways to use them are:
Cut them apart and hand them out in small groups. Each student reads their sentences. Great way to differentiate.
Print on cardstock and use for games. Pick and read a sentence strip instead of a word card.
Read and then glue strips onto paper and add to the reading notebook for review.
Print on cardstock, hole punch, put on a ring clip and use for fluency practice. I have the student choose 2-5 per session and read to me. When a sentence is read fluently with no errors I put a check on the back. When a sentence strip has three checks, I remove it from the ring and replace it with a new one. I usually have the students keep 8-10 sentences on their ring at a time. They can practice at home.
