This powerpoint teaches the four different sentence structures: simple, compound, complex, and compound-complex. Example sentences are given and visuals are used as a metaphor to each structure so that students can make a connection and remember the differences between the structures. Directions are given for students to use when reading various sentence structures. Worksheet not included, but these directions will work with any worksheet that includes the various sentence structures. Definitions and examples for kinds of sentences (declarative, imperative, exclamatory, and interrogative) are also given. A review at the end has students put the two together and identify the sentence structure and the kind of sentence provided. For independent practice, students can practice writing various sentence structures and kinds of sentences to make their writing more interesting.
*A worksheet with examples and an opportunity for student's to practice independently is also included in the powerpoint.
