Whole-group grab bag: Students pull a card out of a bag, read it aloud, and decide whether it is a sentence or fragment.
Whole-group partner search/tea party: Pass out one card to each student. Students will find the person with a similar group of words (i.e. "The dog" and "The dog ran away."
Small-group or individual center: Sort cards into two groups: complete sentence and fragment.
Anchor chart: Have students place their cards onto an anchor chart after playing the above games for a visual reminder of sentence parts.
