Super fun writing activities for the whole year!
Using tree maps is a simple and effective way for beginning writers to build vocabulary, practice sight words, organize ideas and construct sentences. I have always loved using tree maps in writing instruction so I designed these activities to combine the fun of drawing with a helpful writing tool!
1. Follow the five steps to draw their own picture.
2. Complete the tree map with nouns and adjectives.
3. Use their tree map to help them write complete sentences about their picture.
The fifteen hand-drawn pictures for each tree map include:
– witch, Frankenstein
– two versions of a turkey
– Santa, reindeer
– penguin, snowman
· Groundhog Day
– two versions of a groundhog
· Valentine’s Day
– love bug
· St. Patrick’s Day
– butterfly, bee
