This is a journal to help students learn to write sentences. It also encourages them to add a little bit more to their illustrations! I've had way too many students who just scribble something down to be done! Each sheet requires at least three different colors to be used and they must record that information (color word on some and color in a bubble on others).
Days 1-10: Students fill in the blank and must draw a picture using at least three different colors. They record the color words on the sheet.
Days 11-20: Students begin creating their own sentences using a suggested word. I had included a sheet for you to display on Days 11-15 with three sentences as examples students can copy to help them transition. Students fill in three circles at the bottom of the page showing the three colors they used in their picture. I included a spot for students to record the word they capitalized in the sentence.
Days 21-30: Students will still do all of the above in addition to adding a color word to their sentence. They will record the word they choose to use on the sheet and then add it into the sentence. Days 21-25 have a sheet with example sentences to help students transition.
