This lab to separate mixtures provides a 5E model to learn about what a mixture is and how to separate it. This activity provides an engage to get the students attention and then a follow up activity. The students will then have to share their results and discuss with other students to see if there are better ways to separate a certain mixture. They can then debate if necessary to determine which group had the best strategy to separate the mixture. There is a station that will lead the students into solutions. Suggestions on activities to do after the lab to further engage the students in learning are included.
