This lab is all about mixtures and methods used to separate them. Create 6 different mixtures in which you use a strainer, a magnet, a filter, and your hand to separate them. For example, at station one you can have rocks and sand mixed together. Have a strainer, magnet, and filter available so students can test which one works best. At station 2, you can have sand and water.
My stations looked like this:
1- Sand and rocks
2- Sand and water
3- Water and rocks
4- Chex mix
5- Sand and iron filings (put a plastic bag over your magnet to keep it clean)
6- Water, rocks, and sand (make this a 3 part mixture)
